Paul Ferguson two selections for us on Saturday; Gleneagles in the 2.30 at Ascot and Pain Au Chocolat in the 3.15 at Market Rasen. Compare odds and bet.
If allowed to take his chance in this afternoon’s QEII Stakes, Gleneagles (2:30) is taken to lower the colours of fellow Royal Ascot winner Solow.
With the selection not taking up his engagement, Freddie Head’s grey has since landed the Sussex Stakes, whilst Aidan O’Brien’s dual 2,000 Guineas winner has been kept off the track since winning the St James’s Palace Stakes at Ascot.
Provided that the ground is deemed suitable, the son of Galileo can maintain his 100% record for the campaign, under Ryan Moore.
This season is set to be a big one for Dan Skelton and the Alcester based handler can strike at Market Rasen this afternoon, with chase debutant Pain Au Chocolat (3:15) who has been bought out of Alan King’s yard.
The four-year-old would probably appreciate easier ground, but the Enrique gelding was a fairly smart juvenile hurdler last season and receives a stone from Fox Norton, a formerly smart hurdler himself, who made a winning debut back in May. He represents a stable in red-hot form but, at the weights, preference is for the newcomer.
