Live on BTSport 1: Sun 12.30: It’s 2/1 (Hills) for both teams to score in a Rangers win over Alloa in the Scottish Championship.
Rangers have flown out of the blocks this season, registering three wins in as many league and cup outings and racking up an impressive dozen goals in the process. Mark Warburton couldn’t have wished for a better start and it looks set to get better for the ‘Gers coach, who should oversee another success, at Alloa today.
Curiously, last term the Wasps caused all sorts of problems for the Light Blues, who managed to win just one of the pair’s five meetings and the fact that three of those clashes finished all square might encourage the odd bold punter to back a stalemate at 5/1 with Stan James.
However, in general the Clackmannanshire outfit, Ladbrokes’s 8/1 outsiders, have been friendless in the market and with good reason. Danny Lennon’s boys haven’t exactly pulled up trees so far, having followed up a narrow triumph over Highland Leaguers Brora Rangers with an extra-time defeat to lowly Berwick in the League Cup and a 3-1 reverse at Queen of the South in their Championship opener so they’re not showing the kind of form that points to an upset.
The visitors have to be the call then at 1/3 courtesy of BetVictor and their recent results suggest they’ll prevail pretty comfortably. Punters after heftier odds might therefore back Rangers in William Hill’s handicaps, where they start a goal in arrears at 4/5.
Nevertheless, this is Alloa’s first home fixture of the new campaign so a slight improvement isn’t out of the question and as Warburton’s men have conceded in both of their outings against Championship opposition both teams should get on the scoresheet at Recreation Park (4/5, Skybet).
Hills’ 2/1 for the Light Blues to prevail without a clean sheet stands out then and the ambitious can back them at 11/1 at bet365 to record a 3-1 victory.
