Championship Team news:
Barnsley v Cardiff
Jay McEveley and Garry O’Connor should both be fit to return to action this Saturday for BARNSLEY after missing out midweek, displacing Luke Potter. Craig Bellamy (knee) could feature for CARDIFF despite pulling out of Wales’ Euro 2010 qualifiers with injury and Seyi Olofinjana will retain his place after returning from injury midweek.
Bristol City v Norwich
James McAllister (groin) came through training on Thursday for BRISTOL CITY after he picked up some small knocks midweek and looks set to start and Sam Vokes also edges nearer to fitness but is eyeing an end of October return. NORWICH have no new injury concerns ahead of Saturday’s encounter but Andrew Surman (knee) remains in the treatment room.
Crystal Palace v QPR
PALACE are facing a deepening injury crisis as Neil Danns (ligaments) faces up to six weeks sidelined and Claude Davis (back) also joins the injury list; James Vaughan is suspended. QPR are set to name and unchanged XI and are without Bradley Orr (calf), Fitz Hall (hamstring) and Rob Hulse (Achilles) but all three could be available after the international break.
Doncaster v Nott’m Forest
Shelton Martis (groin) is a big doubt for DONCASTER after limping out midweek and neither Wayne Thomas nor James Chambers (both knee) will feature while Josh Payne has opted to stay at Oxford on loan. FOREST have no new injury concerns and David McGoldrick is returning to contention as he played for the reserves but Robert Earnshaw (thigh) remains injured.
Hull v Coventry
Jimmy Bullard, Richard Garcia and Nolberto Solano have all returned to training for HULL and could be available while injury concern Ian Ashbee, who came off midweek, has also resumed training. Marlon King (dead leg) will face a late fitness test for COVENTRY but is expected to make the starting line-up for his return to the KC Stadium.
Ipswich v Leeds United
David Norris (five yellow cards) and Luke Hyam begin suspension for IPSWICH meaning Connor Wickham should reclaim his place. Jake Livermore could earn his debut but Luciano Civelli (knee) will not feature. LEEDS boss Simon Grayson has promised to ‘ring the changes’ and only injured pair Fede Bessone and Paul Connolly are not in contention for selection.
Leicester v Scunthorpe
Matt Fryatt starts a three-game suspension for LEICESTER and boss Paulo Sousa could change things defensively after the Foxes conceded ten in two games. SCUNTHORPE will be without Jim McNulty (ankle) and Garry Thompson (groin) for the weekend trip and Ian Baraclough will use the same squad that faced Barnsley on Tuesday night.
Middlesbrough v Portsmouth
Under-fire BORO boss Gordon Strachan is hoping Scott McDonald shakes off the virus that kept him out of the midweek reverse at Derby, Julio Arca (groin) is struggling and the game comes a touch early for Kevin Thomson. Richard Hughes is available after suspension for POMPEY and Danny Webber (knee) is close to a return after a six-month lay-off.
Millwall v Burnley
MILLWALL midfielder Darren Carter is pushing for a recall after an ankle injury but Kevin Lisbie (knee) is a doubt and Liam Trotter is suspended after his red card against Cardiff. For BURNLEY, Ross Wallace is pushing for a starting berth after a hamstring niggle confined him to the bench for the last two games, but otherwise the Clarets look set to be unchanged.
Preston v Reading
Wayne Brown (hamstring) is a doubt after missing PRESTON’S stunning comeback at Leeds on Tuesday while on-loan pair Josh King and Matt James are still struggling with ankle injuries. Bryn Gunnarsson and Andy Griffin are battling to be fit for READING, who have Matt Mills and Brian Howard suspended. Zurab Khizanishvili returns from a ban.
Sheff Utd v Watford
Jamie Ward serves the second of a three-match ban for SHEFF UTD, following his straight red card at Leeds, while Chris Morgan (hamstring) and Rob Kozluk (knee) remain sidelined for the hosts. Save for Dale Bennett, WATFORD boss Malky Mackay has few injury concerns with in-form strike duo Danny Graham and Marvin Sordell set to continue in attack.
Swansea v Derby
SWANSEA midfield man Darren Pratley has aggravated a shoulder injury, David Cotterill (groin) is a doubt but Craig Beattie and Angel Rangel should again be on the bench after long lay-offs. Dean Leacock (hamstring) has added to DERBY’S defensive woes, joining the likes of Russell Anderson, Jake Buxton and Miles Addison on a length casualty list.
