Paul Ferguson two selections for us on Saturday; Bondi Beach in the 3.45 at Doncaster and Gleneagles in the 5.45 at Leopardstown. Compare odds and bet.
With stable-mate Order Of St George now set to contest tomorrow’s Irish equivalent BONDI BEACH (3:45) is fancied to kick start what could be a memorable weekend for Aidan O’Brien, by landing the St Leger.
The Galileo colt has half a length to find with Storm The Stars on their recent Great Voltigeur meeting, but the step back up in trip is very much in his favour and his aforementioned stable companion has since given his earlier form a strong look.
The Curragh Cup winner remains unexposed as a stayer and, though all four of his races have resulted in narrow finishes, he appeals as a horse that will only ever just do enough.
Over at Leopardstown O’Brien’s GLENEAGLES (5:45) is worth chancing at the odds (5-1 overnight) in a red hot renewal of the Irish Champion Stakes.
The dual Guineas and St James’s Palace Stakes winner finally steps up to 10 furlongs for the first time, having missed the Juddmonte International due to the ground, and, assuming it remains on the quick side, he might just have too much pace for the likes of Golden Horn, The Grey Gatsby and Free Eagle. At the prices, I’m certainly happy to take the chance.
Saturday’s selection:
3:45 Doncaster – Bondi Beach
5:45 Leopardstown – Gleneagles
