In League 2, high-flying Port Vale are a great price at 2/1 with William Hill to record a 6th straight win.
Port Vale are now four points clear at the top of League Two having seen off Shrewsbury in midweek and with four away wins out of four, it’s clear that Micky Adams’ side are going to take some beating this season. It seems strange then that they are priced at as high as 2/1 by William Hill to make it five on the spin on the road as they head to mid-table Oxford.
The U’s have lots twice on their own patch this season, Stockport amongst their conquerors at the Kassam Stadium and their only victories all season have been against two teams in the bottom three. The Valiants can head there full of confidence then and while we’d be a little reluctant to recommend Adams’ charges at the quotes of 8/5 and 13/8 doing the rounds, the 2/1 is hard to ignore.
Second-placed Chesterfield have a hundred percent record at the b2net Stadium, where they have conceded just two goals and while this week’s visitors Crewe haven’t lost in seven, five of those finishing one-apiece, they required a late leveller to nick a point at home to Macclesfield in midweek and the Spireites look a solid proposition at 17/20 (Victor Chandler) to end their unbeaten run.
However, bigger returns could be forthcoming if punters focus on Chesterfield marksman Craig Davies. The Welsh international has struck five times in his last half a dozen matches and he’s 6/4 with Coral to get on the scoresheet in this one.
Torquay made a flying start to the season but have come unstuck in recent weeks, failing to win in their last five and suffering back-to-back home defeats to Macclesfield and Aldershot. They could therefore find the going tough at Shrewsbury, who look a home banker at 11/10 courtesy of Betfred.
Also at 11/10, this time with Totesport, are Bradford who can build on the decent draw at Rotherham by seeing off fellow-strugglers Morecambe at Valley Parade while Aldershot, buoyed by that success at Plainmoor, also look primed for a home win; they’re 10/11 (Stan James) to overcome poor travellers Cheltenham.
