Fergie’s Saturday double

Paul Ferguson two selections for us on Saturday; Wonder Laish in the Haydock 4.00 and The Cashel Man in the Newmarket 5.15. Compare odds and bet.

Haydock stages the pick of the action on Saturday, with the improving Intilaaq the most exciting prospect on the card; Roger Varian’s dual-Newbury winner should be very difficult to beat in the Group 3 Rose Of Lancaster Stakes, but is priced up accordingly.

The valuable three-year-old handicap looks a decent affair, too, in which King Bolete is respected, but Wonder Laish (4:00) looked potentially useful when winning a Lingfield maiden by 15 lengths when last seen back in May.

William Haggas’ Halling colt is held in high regard and looks a late-maturing type who should continue to progress with racing.  An opening mark of 87 looks fair and, though we haven’t seen him for 80 days, he has held plenty of entries of late so has clearly been ready to roll for several weeks.  He was trading as 4-1 favourite on Friday evening.

Down at Newmarket The Cashel Man (5:15) is fancied to reverse recent form with Amour De Nuit, who came out and won again at Ripon during the week.

David Simcock’s High Chaparral gelding only has a ¼ of a length to find with Sir Mark Prescott’s improver, yet has an 8lb pull at the weights.  He hit the front looking all over the winner when they met over this trip at Lingfield last time and, assuming he is held on to for longer, he can regain the winning thread.  Both horses were chalked up as 2-1 joint favourites on Friday evening.
