Paul Ferguson has two selections from Royal Ascot for us on Friday; Limato at 3.40 and Fabricate at 5.35. Compare odds and bet.
An impressive course-and-distance winner on his reappearance in April Limato (3:40) lost his unbeaten record the following month at Haydock, but the draw beat him on that occasion and he can bounce back in the inaugural running of the Commonwealth Cup.
Henry Candy’s Tagula gelding had earlier looked a top-class sprinting prospect and, with the quick ground not a concern, he is given the nod in what looks a pretty deep contest. American raider Hootenanny is among the dangers along with old advisories Tiggy Wiggy and Anthem Alexander.
Later on the card Aloft could easily prove a class apart in the concluding Queen’s Vase, but we have yet to see him this season and he goes up a full mile in distance, for this marathon contest.
Runner-up to Elm Park in the Group 1 Racing Post Trophy when last sighted in October, he had earlier got the better of Derby third Storm The Stars in a maiden at Newmarket and he warrants utmost respect from a form perspective.
He could easily outclass this lot if lasting home but, at the prices, I think Fabricate (5:35) looks worth an each-way investment.
Trained for The Queen by Michael Bell, the Makfi colt defied greenness to score at Salisbury and followed up in a Haydock handicap, when still looking rather green. The further he goes the better he looks and, certainly on running style alone, this extra distance could be right up his street. Hopefully he’ll be available at double-figure odds on the morning of the race (was trading around 9-1 on Thursday).
