The Bet Totetrifecta Handicap Chase at Cartmel on Bank Holiday Monday looks a decent contest, with Presenting Junior arriving at the Cumbria track in search of a five-timer, while Glen Countess looked good when returning from a lengthy absence to score on her debut for Sue Smith at Haydock recently.

A course-and-distance winner at this fixture two years ago, the daughter of Pilsudski looks capable of a bold showing, though there is a slight worry that the race may come too soon for her, on the back of that 16 month break.

Therefore, the verdict goes the way of another horse who is at the top of his game at present, Pauline Robson’s Sharp Rise (4:10) who made all to score emphatically at Sedgefield 13 days ago.

The eight-year-old was completing a hat-trick at the track, having won a novice handicap chase there in October, before returning to beat the useful Major Ivan in a novice hurdle earlier this month.

The slight concern with the selection being that he has twice run at Cartmel without much success, though he looks an altogether different proposition of late and over fences, with his record standing at two from two as a chaser to date.  Expect him to attempt to make all once again under James Reveley and the 13lb rise might not be enough to stop him.
