£20 double returns mammoth £600

Paul Ferguson has two selections from Cheltenham on Thursday; The Govaness in the 3.15 and Kayf Grace in the 5.30. Compare odds and bet.

Absent since winning at Towcester in January The Govaness (3:15) looks worthy of each-way support in what looks a competitive Listed mares’ only handicap hurdle, at Cheltenham on Thursday.

Fergal O’Brien’s novice was a smart bumper performer last term, winning a Listed event here in November 2013 and she also proved she handles better ground when going on to finish fourth at Aintree’s Grand National meeting.

Runner-up on debut over hurdles (really ought to have won, though the winner has turned out fairly smart) she finished fourth to the classy Vyta Du Roc in a Grade 2 here in November.  Off the mark at Towcester last time, an opening mark of 129 looks fair and, with the step up in trip likely to bring about further improvement, she can go well at around 6-1.

Later on the card, another daughter of Kayf Tara, Kayf Grace (5:30) is the one to be with in the concluding bumper.

Alan McCabe’s five-year-old shaped with an abundance of promise when third on debut at Southwell, when she met traffic problems and can be rated a fair bit better than the bare result.

The winner franked the form by finishing third in the Listed bumper at Aintree on Grand National day and the selection would surely have gone close, given a clearer passage.  She opened up 9-2 with Paddy Power last night.

Thursday’s selections:
3:15 Cheltenham: The Govaness; 9/2 Paddy Power
5:30 Cheltenham: Kayf Grace; 9/2 Paddy Power
