Sir Alex Ferguson has pointed the finger at the media after Rio Ferdinand’s form was questioned.
The Manchester United and England defender has been scrutinised after he made a number of mistakes and criticism intensified after Fernando Torres beat him with ease for the first goal in Liverpool’s 2-0 win last weekend.
When asked about Ferdinand’s form, Ferguson said: “I’m not going into that because I read the stuff in the newspapers and I hear he is going to be dropped and all this but I don’t think you have access to my mind. You can try and pick my teams but you will never pick my teams, try as much as you like.”
The Scot added: “I don’t know where it is coming from.
“I just have to put it down to the modern culture of humiliating people which you do very well and all the rest of it.
“I’m not getting into it.”
