Paul Ferguson has one selection from Bangor for us on Tuesday; Relic Rock in the 13:40 at Bangor. Compare odds and bet.
Runner-up on his debut over hurdles at Doncaster Relic Rock (1:40) should appreciate the step up in trip and can score at the second time of asking over timber.
A smart bumper performer for Steve Gollings, the pick of his form being a second behind Zeroeshadesofgrey, his defeat of Fletcher’s Flyer at Uttoxeter and his second in the Grade 2 at Aintree on Grand National day.
The seven-year-old makes his debut for Brian Ellison this afternoon and is preferred to Oliver Sherwood’s Westreet who finished 9 lengths behind the smart Warrantor at Market Rasen a month ago (the runner-up Racing Europe represents the connections of the selection and was a winner at Catterick on New Year’s Day).
Earlier on the card, the opening novices’ hurdle looks a much deeper contest and one that should be watched with the future in mind. Go Conquer is a promising sort, but shoulders a 6lb penalty and will need to jump more quickly than he did on debut, while the enigmatic Fascino Rustico has the form in the book to take a race of this nature on debut for Dan Skelton.
The one to watch closest of all, however, could be Grande Antarctique who caught my eye in bumpers last term and shaped really well here last time. He appeals as the type to come into his own in handicaps once upped in trip and is one to follow going forward.
Tuesday’s selection:
1:40 Bangor-On-Dee: Relic Rock; 10/11 Stan James
