Carlo Cudicini’s footballing career could be under threat after the 36-year-old was involved in a serious road accident yesterday.
The Italian fractured his wrists and injured his pelvis after his BMW superbike collided with a Ford Fiesta on Forest Road, Walthamstow, east London at 10.30am.
But the player may have also breached his contract with the club by riding his high-powered motorbike and there are now serious concerns for his career.
A spokesperson for Tottenham said on Thursday: “We can confirm Carlo Cudicini was involved in a road accident this morning. The club doctor is with him at hospital where we await the result of scans and tests.”
A female driver and a child passenger walked away from the car, which was described as a ‘write off’, and they did not require hospital treatment.
Cudicini arrived at White Hart Lane last January on a free transfer following a decade at Chelsea.
He made his name with the Blues, joining the club from Castel Di Sangro in 1999, initially on loan before signing a permanent deal. He was first choice for four seasons at Stamford Bridge before the arrival of Petr Cech.
But the Italian has made eight appearances this season and his current contract expires next summer.
