St Helens youngster Kyle Eastmond has ended speculation over his future by signing a new two-year contract at the GPW Recruitment Stadium.
The 20-year-old England international, one of the game’s rising stars, had one year remaining on his previous deal but had been linked to other clubs and a move to rugby union following an outstanding 2009 season.
The Saints youth product scored 129 points in 17 appearances for Saints this year and ended the season as England’s starting scrum-half in the Four Nations final against Australia.
Saints chief executive Tony Colquitt said: “Kyle has been with the club for a number of years and we know he has a massive future in the game.
“Along with his finish to the season for ourselves, he was fantastic in the Four Nations and we are looking forward to him developing with the club.”
Eastmond, who has also played games at centre, looks set to take over as Saints’ first-choice scrum-half next season following the departure of club legend Sean Long.
Eastmond said: “I am delighted to secure a two-year contract with the club. Now my future is sorted I am looking forward to pre-season and having a good year with the Saints.”
