FORMULA ONE: After Ferrari said they would not block his return to Formula One, Betfred made Michael Schumacher 10/1 to be crowned world champion next year.
The prospect of Michael Schumacher (already on offer with Betfred at 10/1 to be crowned world champion next year) returning to Formula One next season appears to be growing, after Ferrari said they would not block him from joining another team.
The German retired in 2006 and since then has been working as a consultant for the Italian team, but speculation has been mounting that he could return to the track for the 2010 campaign.
The seven-time world champion almost returned towards the end of last season, when offering his services to Ferrari to deputise for the injured Felipe Massa.
Although medical checks on a neck problem put pay to that, the 40-year-old could be close to return behind the wheel with Mercedes being strongly tipped to announce the veteran as a driver for next season.
Ferrari chief Luca di Montezemolo insisted: “I still haven’t spoken to him about it. He is only a dear friend, not a team member.”
