FORMULA ONE: Manor GP is to be rebranded as Virgin Racing for the 2010 F1 season with Timo Glock (125/1 to win the drivers championship at Stan James) and Lucas de Grassi to be their drivers.
Manor GP is to be rebranded as Virgin Racing for the 2010 Formula One season with Timo Glock (125/1 to win the drivers championship at Stan James‘ outright bets) and Lucas de Grassi to be their drivers, it has been announced.
The outfit is one of four new teams who will take to the grid for next season and Sir Richard Branson has put his name to the group with a multi-million pound sponsorship.
Virgin Racing is to have a £40 million budget and di Grassi (200/1 for the drivers title) has been confirmed to partner Glock after two seasons in GP2 and time spent as a test and reserve driver for Renault.
The new driver said him and Glock will be working to “build a team” at Virgin Racing, with the car set to be ready for testing at the end of January.
“We’re not working as separate individuals, but as a whole group, working as hard as we can to push the team forward,” he said.
Glock has said that he is sure that Michael Schumacher (9/1 to win the drivers championship) will return to Formula One this season.
There are rumours the seven-time world champion will return in 2010 to race for Mercedes GP and Glock claimed it would be great for the sport if the German was to come back.
