Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Saturday including One Track Mind in the Wetherby 14:40. Compare odds and bet.
With Present View already selected at 16/1 back on 13 October we’re sitting pretty, with Jamie Snowden’s Cheltenham Festival winner now less than half those odds for today’s feature, the Paddy Power Gold Cup.
Ideally, the ground would have been a bit drier, but he probably needs a little further and the slower ground will ensure he will not be outpaced. If he handles conditions, he ought to go very close.
Elsewhere on the card, the staying novices’ chase is arguably the most interesting race, with Kings Palace set to make his debut over fences against four first-time-out winners.
Of those Sausalito Sunrise is a horse that I think could a very long way and Philip Hobbs could hardly be in better form (provided us with a winner in the same division yesterday, which formed part of a treble on the day for the trainer). I suspect the ground is a bit on the soft side from the six-year-old, however, so the race is best watched.
Up at Wetherby, Warren Greatrex can continue both his fine form and his tremendous recent strike-rate at the track with One Track Mind (2:40) in the extended 2m4f novices’ hurdle.
An impressive bumper winner at this course in April, the Flemensfirth gelding looks a lovely long-term prospect and this looks the ideal starting point. The trip should be right up his street and the forecast ground should hold no fears, so everything looks set for a bold showing on hurdles debut.
Saturday’s selections:
2:30 Cheltenham Present View (advised at 16-1)
2:40 Wetherby One Track Mind
