TENNIS BETTING: Kim Clijsters continued her comeback route for the Australian Open (7/2 Stan James) with a convincing 6-0 6-3 victory over Alicia Molik to secure a quarter-finals place in Brisbane.
The Belgian (6/4 favourite at Stan James) still has two matches before the possibility of making this weekend’s final, but she is hopeful that former world number one and fellow compatriot Justine Henin (7/4) makes it through her matches to set up a showdown between the pair.
Henin, who is playing in her first tournament for 20 months, will look to secure a place in the last-eight when she faces Sesil Karatancheva (Henin 1/20 to win, Karatancheva 7/1 Tennis Match Coupon) on Wednesday and top seed Clijsters hopes she gets through.
She said: “Those are the matches that you want to do it for. This is why we love to play tennis, for those big matches.”
On her thoughts about Henin’s performance so far in Brisbane, Clijsters added: “On TV it is hard to tell, once you stand in front of her I think you get a better feel.
“But she was very impressive, I thought. She didn’t look like she had left.”
