TENNIS BETTING: Comeback Queen Kim Clijsters fine-tuned her preparations for the Australian Open (7/2 second favourite at Stan James) by beating Justine Henin in the Brisbane International final.
Clijsters announced her own return to the big stage last year when she triumphed at Flushing Meadows to win the US Open (Clijsters 4/1 second favourite Ladies’ Tennis Ante-Post) and needed all her reserves to come back from match point down to deny the former world number one and countrywoman a dream comeback.
Meanwhile, rising British teenage tennis star Laura Robson (300/1 to win title at Stan James’ tennis bets) has been given a wildcard to allow here to enter the Australian Open qualifying competition.
The 15-year-old has just impressed in the Hopman Cup alongside Andy Murray, the pinnacle of which was her defeat of world number 26 Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez in the final.
Robson is ranked 403rd in the world and her wildcard will mean she will enter the qualifying which begins on January 14th, however she will have to win three games to join the likes of Serena Williams and Kim Clijsters in the first round proper of the competition.
