Sturridge set to strike at 4/1

Live on Sky Sports 1: Sun 13.30: Daniel Sturridge is 4/1 (Coral) to mark his Liverpool return with the opener at QPR in the Premier League.

Sitting in ninth place after a mixed start to the campaign, Liverpool are nine points off the title pace, but they’re just four adrift of second-placed Manchester City after seven matches and with three fixtures that look winnable up next, Brendan Rodgers’s men should be right back in the top four scrap by the time they entertain league leaders Chelsea in early November.

First up is a trip to QPR and as struggling Rangers currently prop up the Premier League table, the Reds will head to West London as Ladbrokes’s 8/13 favourites while the hosts are as high as 5/1 courtesy of Stan James.

There is of course, the risk that the Reds might not be firing on all cylinders at Loftus Road because they have half an eye on next Wednesday’s mouth watering Anfield showdown against Real Madrid in the Champions League and punters feeling there’s some credibility to that argument can tackle BetVictor’s 16/5 about a stalemate.

To some, QPR’s scoring troubles will lend appeal to a goalless affair at 14/1 (Skybet) and bet365’s 6/1 about both halves finishing all square, however, Rodgers’s charges will believe that this is a contest that should yield maximum points and betway make them 19/10 to defeat Rangers ‘to nil’.

More precisely, bet365 chalk Liverpool up at 15/2 to grab the game’s only goal and for those sensing a more emphatic away success, Paddy Power price the Reds at 8/5 in the handicaps, where they start a goal in arrears or BetVictor make them 17/2 to notch twice without reply.

Elsewhere, it’s 13/10 via Winner.com for Rodgers’s side to be in possession of a lead at the end of both halves, it’s 7/10 (BetVictor) for the clash to generate fewer than 2.5 goals and Stan James offer 4/9 about the opener coming from a Liverpool player.

The probable return of Daniel Sturridge will assist in that department and the Reds front man, perhaps inevitably, is Coral’s 4/1 favourite to break the deadlock.
