HORSE RACING: Skybet make William Buick 25/1 to be champion Flat jockey in 2010 following news of his appointment as stable jockey to John Gosden but Rya Moore remains Stan James‘ 8/15 favourite
The rising star of the weighing room is 9/2 to make a dream start to his new job by riding a Classic winner in 2010 and is odds-on at 5/6 to boot home 100 winners or more.
The former joint champion apprentice of 2008 replaces Jimmy Fortune as stable jockey at Gosden’s Clarehaven yard and Sky Bet make Buick 2/7 to ride more winners than 5/2 chance Fortune in 2010 with a tie priced up at 25/1.
Matt Doyle of Sky Bet said: “Ryan Moore may not be looking over his shoulder just yet, but securing one of the top jobs in racing is the next step up the ladder for Buick.
Buick is 1/2 with Coral to ride a Group One winner in the UK this year, and 6/1 to enjoy Breeders Cup success in the autumn.
In his short career to date William Buick has always been regarded as a future champion, and although Ryan Moore and Kieren Fallon remain the men to beat in our book, William is certain to be a title contender for many seasons to come, and we already make him odds on to enjoy his first top level success on home soil this year, Coral’s David Stevens told betrescue.com
Kieran Fallon is 5/2 to be King of the Flat at William, Richard Hughes comes next in the betting at 10/1 (Bet365) whist Jamie Spencer is 25/1 and Seb Saunders 33s at Paddy Power.
