Rangers were poor when beating Hamilton in Tuesday’s Cup replay and unless they improve dramatically tomorrow, Stan James’s 9/1 for it to finish 1-1 looks worthy of further consideration.
Celtic too have failed to impress recently, though this has not prevented Ladbrokes from installing Tony Mowbray’s men as their 4/9 favourites to beat St Johnstone. Celtic have won just two of their last six matches and lost three league fixtures away from Parkhead, yet Betfred offer St Johnstone at an enormous 7/1 to secure three points; Betdaq posts a similarly tempting 7/2 against the draw.
The Saints lost 5-2 when they played Celtic in August and those anticipating another goalfest may fancy the 4/6 offered by Totesport for Sunday’s duel to yield more than two. In Victor Chandler’s ‘total goal minutes’ market, punters are offered an attractive-looking 9/5 against the aggregate being between 96-179 minutes.
When the team that has managed fewest home league goals hosts the side that has scored just two away from home, there seems little likelihood of it developing into a goalfest. Punters who concur may fancy Betdaq’s 4/6 price for Aberdeen’s duel with Kilmarnock to yield fewer than three goals, or else Paddy Power’s attractive-looking 6/5 for the Dons to retain a clean sheet.
Though Killie have failed to score in ten of their 19 league matches, Aberdeen have not found the net on eight occasions. These records suggest further consideration should be given to Partybets’ 13/5 for it to finish in stalemate, or to bet365’s 9/2 odds for both halves to end with honours even.
Elsewhere, there should be SPL successes for Motherwell (evens, William Hill) and Hibs (8/13, Ladbrokes) against St Mirren and Hamilton respectively. Falkirk’s duel with Dundee United on Sunday looks set to finish with honours even, an outcome rated at 12/5 by Victor Chandler.
