Lady Buttons 11/10 @ Worcester

Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Wednesday; Lady Buttons in the Worcester 16:00. Compare odds and bet.

Fontwell plays host to a couple of really exciting novices on Wednesday, starting with Miles To Memphis in the opening novices’ hurdle.

Alan King’s dual bumper winner looked a very smart prospect last term and should be difficult to beat, while Deputy Dan should be too strong for his main market rival (Virak) in the 2m4f beginners’ chase.

This will hopefully be the start of a long and exciting season for both, though both are likely to be pretty short (Deputy Dan opened up 8-13 with Paddy Power last night) and, with that in mind, the day’s selection comes from Worcester.

Lady Buttons (4:00) was another two-time bumper winner last term and Phil Kirby’s Beneficial filly is fancied to make a winning debut over hurdles, in the 2m mares’ only novices’ event.

A head second in the Listed event at Aintree’s Grand National meeting, the four-year-old missed an engagement in a warmer contest at Wetherby last week and she looks to have been handed an easier assignment this afternoon, despite facing another useful recruit in the shape of Pitter Patter.

Later on the card, keep tabs on both Binge Drinker and Royal Supreme in the first division of the maiden hurdle, and also No No Romeo and expensive-purchase Blackthorn Prince in division two.

And, the 2m7f novices’ handicap chase also looks a race to pay close attention to, with several interesting recruits.  Graeme McPherson’s Timesishard is a horse I have a bit of time for and looks potentially over-priced at 28-1 (Bet Victor), but he tends to take a couple of runs to find his feet and this does look competitive.  Market leader Oscar Fortune looks potentially well-treated on a line through the aforementioned Deputy Dan and is another to note.

Finally, going back to Miles To Memphis; should he open up a backable price (tissue 10-11 in Racing Post, which I feel is unlikely) he rates as a selection, too.

Wednesday’s selection:
4:00 Worcester: Lady Buttons; 11/10 Skybet
