HORSE RACING: Our All-weather tipster Alan Thomson, former racing editor of the Daily Record, pulls out two more potential bookie bashing tips that are running at Lingfield Park on Saturday.
VINCES (4.25) was given a masterly ride by Hayley Turner to snatch the spoils in a blanket finish at Lingfield last week and can dish out another caning to the bookmakers back at the all-weather track on Saturday.
My nap isn’t the easiest of rides as he likes to get some cover off a strong pace. A wide draw was his undoing when only fourth on his previous visit to Lingfield this month and he is held on that effort by Maximus Aurelius.
However, Vinces was trapped wide for most of the trip that day and, from today’s perfect pitch in stall two, he should be able to get into a nice stalking position. The form of last week’s victory was given a boost when runner-up Freedom Fire landed a big gamble in midweek.
Top weight Expensive Problem produced an explosive finishing kick to deny a major gamble on Charlie Smirke here last week but steps up another two furlongs which might catch him out.
DARSHONIN (1.40) is closely matched with Purple Gallery on Lingfield form on January 15 but seems a progressive sort since the visor was fitted. Darshonin was no match for Mark Johnston’s favourite Monterosso over course and distance last week but this son of Pivotal is nicely boxed near the rail and can break his maiden tag.
Tally Ho
Alan
