Present View 11/8 @ Huntingdon

Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Tuesday; Present View in the Huntingdon 15:20. Compare odds and bet.

Having flagged up Present View (3:20) for the Paddy Power Gold Cup in yesterday’s column, I would like to think he can make a winning return to action at Huntingdon this afternoon, in a novice hurdle that he actually finished third in last year.

Jamie Snowden’s six-year-old has looked in need of his first run in the past and wouldn’t want the ground too soft, but he is a much improved performer than the horse that ran in the race 12 months ago and, if the ground is deemed suitable, his experience and undoubted class can see him home in front.

If any overnight rain turns the ground against the selection, he is likely to be pulled out and he does have options at Cheltenham (Friday) and Kempton (Sunday) later in the week. With the Paddy Power Gold Cup just over four weeks away, the last thing connections will be looking for is a tough race on bad ground.

Should Snowden pull his stable-star out, Alan King’s smart bumper performer Ordo Ab Chao should be able to make a winning debut over timber. A soft-ground winner at this track in March, the five-year-old went on to finish fourth in the Grade 2 at Aintree and the step up to 2m4f should be right up his street.

A son of Heron Island, testing ground won’t pose any issues to Wayne Hutchinson’s mount and he is the one to be with, in the absence of last season’s Cheltenham Festival winner.
