FOOTBALL BETTING: Rangers are virtually unbackable at 1/18 to win the SPL but there’s still plenty of value in the match betting. David Russell casts his eye over this weekend’s SPL fixtures
Ten points clear at the top with a game in hand and undefeated at Ibrox, it’s no surprise to see Rangers best priced at 1/5 (bet365) to overhaul St Mirren tomorrow. The same firm considers Walter Smith’s men an 8/15 choice to win by two or more goals.
Considering St Mirren have managed just three away goals all season, that looks a decent bet, as does Victor Chandler’s 8/15 for the match to yield more than two goals.
Kilmarnock too have not enjoyed a great time on the road, scoring only three away goals all season. They’re 4/1 (Totesport) to beat Hibs tomorrow, though 888Sport’s 5/6 for the Easter Road side to register maximum points has attracted greater support.
William Hill’s enormous 7/2 for Killie to score looks far too long, while Betfred’s 7/4 for Hibs to win when kicking off with a one goal
deficit is worthy of further consideration.
Elsewhere, Dundee United (evens, Partybets) look good value to beat
Hearts on Sunday, despite Betdaq’s attractive 12/5 marked in favour of the draw. Stan James rates a 2-0 home win at 7/1.
Also on Sunday, Jaxx price Celtic at 2/5 to overhaul Falkirk as Ladbrokes offer 4/5 about the Hoops leading at the end of both halves.
Those who feel that the burgeoning goal-laden trend established by St Johnstone and Motherwell is set to continue at McDiarmid Park tomorrow can get 11/10 (Stan James) against it once again yielding more than two goals. Indeed, punters might be inclined to supplement their wagers by
considering bet365’s even money odds for the total goal minutes to exceed 130 – the totals were 217 in August and 220 in December.
Finally, punters who anticipate Mark McGhee’s troops securing a much-needed victory can get 7/1 (Betdaq) against them recording a 1-0 win at Hamilton, while they’re 7/4 with William Hill to retain a clean sheet. As the Accies have scored only twice in their last ten SPL outings, this looks remarkably good value.
