Paul Ferguson has two selections from The Curragh for us on Sunday; Ol’ Man River in the 15:30 and Forgotten Rules at 17:15. Compare odds and bet.
The pick of Sunday’s action comes from the Curragh, where the once-raced Ol’ Man River (3:30) is taken to give Aidan O’Brien his fourth Beresford Stakes in a row and his fifth in six years.
In all, O’Brien has won seven of the past 10 renewals and looks to have a seriously exciting prospect on his hands in the shape of this Montjeu colt, who won his maiden over course-and-distance last month.
He clearly needs to step forward considerably on that bare form, but it was a hugely encouraging debut success and connections will know what is required to defeat the more proven Tombelaine, who rates the main danger.
Later on the card Forgotten Rules (5:15) should be tough to beat in the 2m Listed event, as he bids to maintain his 100% career record.
Dermot Weld’s Punchestown bumper winner was hugely impressive in making a winning debut on the level at Galway and can take the next step up the ladder here.

Nicky Henderson’s French recruit Son Du Berlais is likely to line-up at Newton Abbot on Monday or Warwick on Thursday, before having a crack at the Persian War during October (he is only a novice until the end of October), whilst Take A Bow is one to note in the 3m handicap hurdle at Chepstow on Tuesday.
On the same card, Carole’s Destrier would be an interesting runner in the novices’ handicap chase and Rock The Kasbah should be noted in the bumper for Philip Hobbs (also in at Bangor on Thursday).
