It’s off to Listowel again for Thursday’s selection, which comes in the shape of Giant’s Quest (3:35) who has served this column well during the summer.
A winner for us over hurdles in July, he finished runner-up on his return to the level at the Curragh last month, when he was trying to concede weight to last week’s Doncaster Cup third. A literal reading of the form line could be slightly misleading, but he beat the same rival at Dundalk in July and today’s slightly shorter trip ought not to pose any problems.
The eight-year-old may have a battle on for the lead with market leader Gypsy King, but he has a distinct experience advantage over that rival and is taken to put that to good use. He opened up 3-1 overnight.
