Angus Loughran previews this week’s US Masters and fancies Tiger to go close with Schwartzel, Westwood and Couples in with a shout for a place.
The wait is over, Tiger is back and at 5/1 (Ladbrokes) he has an outstanding chance of producing one of sport’s great comeback stories by landing a 5th Green Jacket. It would be a staggering triumph if he achieved it but the World Number One is a unique talent and could just pull it off.
It is 31 years since Fuzzy Zoeller won Masters and no debutant has won since but South African Charl Schwartzel looks overpriced at 60/1 with Stan James to give it a right good go in 2010.
Of the British contenders Lee Westwood looks the pick and had it not been for a horrible few holes on front 9 in Houston on Saturday he would have run winner Antony Kim close and he is a decent each way bet at 25/1 with Paddy Power who are offering 6 places each way.
After Tom Watson flew the flag for the Seniors at Turnberry last July Fred Couples a former Masters Champ looks over the odds at 110/1 with William Hill for those who like real experience at Augusta.
