ICE HOCKEY BETTING: William Hill have put 7/2 on the Washington Capitals to win this year’s Stanley Cup after they won the Eastern Conference in considerable style.
The Capitals finished with 121 points, earning them the President’s Cup for the best total in the whole league and the highest total in NHL for 4 years. They will be hoping to carry that form over and secure a first ever Stanley Cup. Betfredhave 10/11 about Washington to win the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Chicago Blackhawks are 2nd favs at 5/1 with Boylesports and will look to improve on last year’s Conference Final, in which they lost to Detroit Red Wings.
Last year’s winners, the Pittsburgh Penguins, are next in the betting at 6/1 (888sport). The Penguins, who finished 4th in the Conference, must face Ottawa Senators to progress.
Detroit Red Wings, who were last year’s beaten finalists and 2008 Stanley Cup winners, are 9/1 with Stan James. Whilst they have had a unspectacular season, they will not have to face strongly fancied Chicago until the Conference Finals, by which time they will be one step from the Stanley Cup Final.
For an outside bet, Buffalo Sabres represent some value at 22/1 with Betfred. They won the North-East Division and are 3rd seed in the conference. They reached the Conference finals in 05/06 and 06/07, when they won their division, but have not qualified since.
