FOOTBALL BETTING: An eventful weekend in the Premiership has seen Manchester United handed another lease of life in the title race. They are 6/4 with BetDaq.
The Manchester derby had injury time heartache and joy for the 3rd time this season, Paul Scholes undoing Man City just seconds before the whistle. United were staring at the season’s end as a draw looked ominous with Chelsea yet to play.
However, one Paul Scholes header later and a fantastic win for Spurs, means Man Utd are right back in it. The bookies still have Chelsea as favs though, Ladbrokes putting 8/13 about The Blues, despite their apparent nerves and loss of John Terry to a red card.
Arsenal are all but out of the race now, their last gasp capitulation, or Wigan’s brilliance, means they can be backed at 250/1 with SkyBet for the title. With 3 games to go for the Gunners, 6 points adrift, it would be a futile punt.
The race for 4th, and the lucrative Champion’s League place, took yet another turn in what has turned out to be a compelling season in that section of the table. If Man City had won or even drawn and Chelsea had got the expected win, the race for 4th would be all but over. As it is, Tottenham are back in the driving seat in a flip-flop of odds that sees Spurs 4/5 with Betfred. City are back out to 11/8 (Bet365) and brave punters can back Aston Villa at 16/1 with Stan James. Liverpool’s quest for 4th appears to have ran out of steam. If they win tonight against West Ham they will be within 5 points of Spurs but all teams around Liverpool will have a game in hand. They are 20/1 with Boylesports.
At the bottom, a win for Bolton let their supporters relax for the season and Wigan’s stunning comeback and overhaul of Arsenal means they are 7 points clear of the drop, Paddy Power has 25/1 about them to be relegated. West Ham are 4/1 with Bet365 to be relegated but if they lose at Liverpool tonight, they will be 3 points ahead of Hull, who will have a game in hand. The bookies are fairly confident of Hull’s season ending in relegation, William Hill price them up at 1/6 to go down. The feeling is one of inevitability for Burnley, Ladbrokes offering 1/40 for them to be relegated.
