Two of the suprise packages in this season’s Champions League go head to head for a place in the final against Inter or Barca. Chris Hutcheon previews
Buoyed by their quarter final triumph against Manchester United, in-form Bayern Munich are well placed to book a place in the Champions League Final at the expense of last four opponents Lyon.
The Bundesliga outfit are 4/6 with Ladbrokes to get the better of the French side over two legs and they look set to take an advantage to the Stade Gerland next week; Stan James pricing Louis Van Gaal’s men at 8/11 to come out on top at the Allianz Arena.
Munich go into the clash in great shape domestically, having smashed seven past Hannover at the weekend and they transfer that form to Europe by preventing Lyon from grabbing a crucial away goal. A win ‘to nil’ for the hosts, at 15/8 with 888Sport therefore appeals and for bolder punters William Hill post 7/1 against Bayern notching twice without reply.
In attack meanwhile, it’s hard to overlook the form of Arjen Robben, who stunned the Old Trafford crowd with that magnificent volley in round eight. The Dutch winger has struck nine goals in his last eight games, including a hat trick at the weekend and Paddy Power’s may pay the price for offering him at odds of 7/4 to get on the scoresheet in this one.
In the Premiership, Hull City are desperate for points as they battle for survival but they may have to settle for just the one as they host Aston Villa, in a clash that is 12/5 with Totesport to finish all square.
