Blackpool On A Rollercoaster: Up Then Down

FOOTBALL BETTING: Blackpool charmed and shocked football fans by becoming the 44th club to compete in the Premier League, but can they stay there? Compare Premier League Odds.

Blackpool head to the Premier League next season and already the knives are out, Paddy Power have chalked up 1/3 about them to be relegated. If you fancy some chunkier odds and believe Blackpool are for it, perhaps bet365’s 4/5 about them to finish rock bottom is more suitable.

Blackpool finished 6th in the Championship and it isn’t often 6th place is promoted. Though, it’s hard to see how much Blackpool could differ from Burnley, who themselves endured a very tough second half to last season. Whilst Blackpool have a much smaller ground, it’s arguable that Holloway’s cavalier attacking approach could serve them well against the ‘weaker’ teams in the league, which is surely where they must look to maximise their points haul.

It’s for that reason that Blackpool to stay up, at 9/4 (Skybet), is not such a laughable bet. They will suffer at the hands of the classy attacking sides who will expose their lower quality defence but if they constantly attack sides such as Wolves, Wigan, Bolton and West Ham (such as they did to Leicester, Notts Forest, Cardiff etc), they can perhaps make the total to stay up.

Chelsea are 13/8 fav with Victor Chandler to retain the title and Man United follow them in at 5/2 with SkyBet. Man City and Arsenal make up the top 4, both 8/1 (Vic Chandler and 888sport respectively).

Man City are 8/11 to finish in the Champions League places next year but Tottenham are 3/1 to repeat their excellent finish of 09/10 (Stan James).

Relegated Burnley have been installed as 11/1 2nd fav (888sport) for the Championship behind QPR, who are 9/1.
Playoff final losers Cardiff, who now surely face financial turmoil, are 12/1 with Blue Square.

In League 1, Southampton can really capitalise on the departure of all the giants (apart from Charlton) and are 7/2 heavy fav with SkyBet to win the league.
