The Challenge Cup approaches the business end of the season and Saturday’s live action sees Leeds Rhinos entertain the formidable Wigan.
Leeds, 7/2 2nd fav with Betfred for the competition, are 1/2 with Bet365 to triumph over Wigan in what promises to be a close encounter. Wigan started in round 4 by conceding a few too many to Sheffield but looked very assured in round 5 against Widnes. Wigan are 7/4 with Skybet to win a third successive away game but the opposition have gone up in class considerably. It will be a close, tough game and Wigan can sneak it on a +6 handicap at 10/11 with Ladbrokes.
Sunday’s televised game has title chasers Warrington Wolves visiting Bradford. The Bulls will be acutely aware of the heavy defeat Warrington dished out to Huddersfield in round 5 but there wont be a repeat of that fiasco. Warrington have to keep a check on their own slightly patchy record away from home yet Bradford have hardly thrilled loyal home fans the last couple of games. Ladbrokes’ 2/1 on Bradford would seem fair, and while the 4/9 (Skybet) on Warrington is hardly profitable, the handicap of -6 at 10/11 is worth taking – also with Skybet.
In the other 2 ties, Barrow’s fantastic run in the cup takes them to Knowsley Road where you would think that run will end. St Helens are floating around the 1/500 mark, 1.01 on the exchanges, and bet365 are imposing a handicap of -40 on St Helens for a price of 10/11. -40 is a massive points gap to overhaul but if there is 1 team at the moment who can achieve that, it would be St Helens. Their recent points accumulation has been nothing short of incredible and they can do it again this weekend, but it will be close.
The last of the quarter finals matches Batley and Catalans. Batley are 15/2 with Ladbrokes to prosper but Catalans should progress at 1/10 with Bet365. The handicap of +20 makes Batley 10/11 which is tempting.
