Tiger Woods won the 2000 US Open, the last at Pebble Beach, by 15 shots and even though his form since his return to Golf has been patchy, he is still a decent price at 8/1 with Stan James.
Lee Westwood ended a 12 year drought on PGA Tour with victory in the St Jude Classic on Sunday; he is 12/1 with 888sport to win his First Major this week and will play the first two rounds with Tiger and Ernie Els.
I think Columbian Camillo Villegas is overpriced at at 50/1 with Victor Chandler and they are paying 1/4 odds for six places. Tim Clark was a fine winner of last month’s Players but is still 66/1 this week (Ladbrokes) which also looks over the odds.
It promises to be a great week but those cheering on a British winner should remember it is 40 years since Tony Jacklin was the last at Haseltine.
