GOLF BETTING: SkySports1: Fri 18.00: After shooting a 3 over 74, the same as Tiger Woods, Lee Westwood is 20/1 to win his first major this week, 5 shots off the lead. Compare all US Open odds.
Paul Casey sits atop the US Open leaderboard after day 1 after a positive round of 69, -2. Casey is now 12/1 at Ladbrokes to win. After a poor start to 2010, Casey himself admitted he was not striking the ball well and after a week of practice, could still not get his swing to a satisfactory level. Such is the way of golf, he now leads the US Open.
Despite hitting a 3 over 74, Tiger Woods is clear fav at 15/2 with Sportingbet, ahead in the betting to Paul Casey. Woods started as non-fav in a major for the 1st time in 10 years but has re-established himself today. Woods and Mickelson amazingly didn’t hit a single birdie between them yesterday, a remarkable record, yet Woods did look composed. Mickelson drifts from fav to 22/1 with Skybet.
Another Englishman, Ian Poulter, is 1 shot further back on -1 and is priced up at 16/1 by Stan James. Poulter finished off his round in spectacular fashion, playing three consecutive shots from the sand at the par-5 18th and yet still managing a par score.
Sadly, Francesco Molinari (+8) and Brian Davis (+9) both struggled and are looking at the cut, never mind the top 10, barring a miracle.
Tim Clark is a fantastic bet to reach the top 10 at 11/2 with Bodog, he is only 3 shots off the pace and has good current form.
