Live on ITV & BBC1: Jun 12-Jul 13: It’s 15/8 (bet365) for Germany to win World Cup Group G with Portugal in second.
There’s no obvious whipping boy in Group G but the two European teams, Germany and Portugal still stand out as the most likely to qualify.
Maturing at the right time, Joachim Low’s side are definite contenders for the trophy and accordingly they’re bet365’s 8/13 jollies to top the pile, ahead of the Portuguese (11/4, Betfred).
Paddy Power post 13/10 against the latter ending up as runners-up while Ghana are 4/1 (betway) and Ladbrokes rate USA at 5/1 in the same market.
Potentially short of goals, the Americans look a decent bet to finish bottom, an outcome Stan James offer at a not unappealing 11/10 and the United States are a touch higher at 5/4 (William Hill) to be the lowest scorers.
A case can be made for all of these options but ultimately it’s hard to get away from the feeling that Germany and Portugal are the duo to beat in this group. They’re 4/5 with BetVictor to occupy the top two places but it’s worth taking a risk at a chunkier 15/8 courtesy of bet365 by backing Die Mannschaft to nudge Paulo Bento’s charges into second in a straight forecast.
