CRICKET BETTING: Live on Skysports 1: Sat 10.45 England have forged ahead 1-0 after victory at Nottingham and things look bleak for Bangladesh, heading to Bristol for the 2nd ODI.
The first 10 overs of Bangladesh’s innings at Nottingham displayed a desire not to be written off automatically but be considered as perhaps a team that could bother England with a big total, if perhaps not with the ball.
Bangladesh, Iqbal in particular, swatted 30 off the opening 3 overs which soon slowed to 50 runs from the 1st 10 overs but a pace was set. Actually, that pace never fluctuated from 5 an over as they hit 100 at 20.2 overs, 150 at 31.4 and finally 250 from 1 ball shy of 50 overs. England comfortably chased it down in 45 overs but Bangladesh will be annoyed that they coudln’t up their score closer to 280, which really could have worried the hosts.
At 1/10 with William Hill, England are even shorter to win the 2nd ODI, Bangladesh pushed further out to 9/1 with Betdaq. It would be hard to prepare a case to seriously back Bangladesh at that price, who have also not won a T20 or ODI in 2010, at 17 attempts. In further bad news, The Tigers lost Mushfiqur Rahim (wicket keeper) and Raqibul Hasan (top scorer with 76) to injuries during the 1st ODI and have sent for emergency back up (they now have no dedicated wicket keeper). They don’t really stand a chance.
Bangladesh will definately go for runs. They will want to set a higher total than 250 and Iqbal will be keen as mustard to atone for his slightly poor lbw. He is 11/4 to top score for Bangladesh with Bet365 and that seems a good bet, despite the pressure from Siddique, 11/2 at Stan James for the same award.
England realistically should walk the match but perhaps the inconsistency of Craig Kieswetter can be exploited. After some poor ODI’s against Aussie and a 32 at Nottingham that included some dodgy running, Victor Chandler are offering 7/4 that Bangladesh can get a higher opening partnership than England, and why not if Iqbal is in the mood.
Anderson pipped Broad to the wickets honour last time out but the tall man can get revenge and be top wicket taker for England this time out at 3/1 with Blue Square.
