GOLF BETTING: Live On Skysports 3: Thu from 11:00: Angus Loughran previews this week’s Scandanavian Masters, British Seniors’ and Canadian Open and flags up his best bets for the tournaments.
Louis Oosthuizen was a worthy but shock 250/1 winner of last weeks Open at St Andrews and because of the emphatic nature of his triumph, Paddy Power look to be over the odds at 100/1 on him to win next months USPGA, while 28/1 (Victor Chandler) should not be sniffed at for this weeks Scandanavian Masters which he
received a Sponsors invite before The Open.
Tiger Woods is still the man the bookies fear most and he is top priced 6/1 for USPGA with Betdaq and 5/1 for 2011 Open Championship at Sandwich; Lee Westwood will surely be shorter than Stan James offer of 20/1 for next years Open.
KJ Choi makes a welcome visit to Europe in the Scandanavian Masters and looks a decent price at 33/1 with Sportingbet while Dustin Johnson, who blew a place finish at St Andrews with his 6-5 finish, should also go well at 18/1 with Betfred. Robert Karlsson is a worthy contender at around 12/1 (Totesport) and should lead the home challenge.
Camilo Villegas will relish conditions in Ontario for this weeks Canadian Open and looks worth supporting at 25/1 with William Hill. Mike Weir is overpriced at 50/1 at Ladbrokes.
I like the chances of Bernard Langer at 14/1 (Skybet) in the British Seniors’ Open at Carnoustie where Tom Lehman is a deserved 9/1 market leader with Stan James after a great
Open Championship. Larry Mize at 35/1 (Skybet) looks overpriced and looks sure to give backers a good run for their money.
