Live on BTSport 1: Sun 12.45: A 6/1 treble (BetVictor) and 7/2 upset are two of our three Scottish Premiership picks this week.
Following an impressive campaign, Aberdeen’s quest to secure second place in the Premiership continues when they host St Johnstone on Saturday as the season careers towards its denouement.
The pair have met five times already this term and while the Saints recorded a nail-biting Scottish FA Cup victory earlier this month, it’s worth noting that in their three Premiership contests against the Dons this season, they’ve failed to score. Little wonder that Aberdeen kick off as BetVictor’s 4/5 favourites. Stan James rate the chances of it finishing all square as a 13/5 shot.
Dundee United have rattled in nine goals and conceded three in their trio of league duels with Motherwell this term and they kick off as bet365’s 10/11 favourites to register their third win of the campaign against the Steelmen.
Motherwell, desperately unlucky to draw with Celtic last weekend, can be backed at 12/5 (Skybet) to win, although Ladbrokes’ 18/5 for the sides to serve up a score draw cannot be ignored
Kilmarnock and Ross County have also locked horns on three occasions this season, with Killie scoring twice in each contest. Paddy Power consider the chances of the pair serving up more than 2.5 goals on Saturday as an 8/15 shot and Stan James’s 5/6 for Kilmarnock to open the scoring also appears worthy of consideration.
Despite their lowly position, it’s Ross (13/10, Winner.com) who open as favourites to secure three points, whereas Kilmarnock, undefeated against the Staggies this season, can be backed at a lengthy-looking 2/1 with Betway.
Celtic ran riot when they last faced Inverness, winning 5-0 at Parkhead at the beginning of March, so it’s no surprise to see them installed as William Hill’s 1/3 jollies to emerge victorious when the pair meet again on Sunday. Thistle, by contrast, are offered at an enormous 9/1 by Stan James and are priced at 12/5 by BetVictor.com to win when handed a one goal start.
With Hearts relegated, Sunday’s Edinburgh derby could be the last one for a while, although many punters feel that Hearts will want to go out with a bang, despite being quoted at 7/2 (bet365) to win.
Not as though many punters expect a feast of goals. Skybet consider the chances of the teams disappearing for their half time cuppa with the scores level to be an even money shot, while in the half time score market, the most popular result is 0-0, available at 15/8 with Ladbrokes.
Home advantage accounts for Hibs’ status as Skybet’s 10/11 favourites, while Winner.com post 5/6 about them retaining a clean sheet and Betway mark 13/2 against a 1-0 home win.
