Tennis Betting: Live on British Eurosport: Thu 16.30: Wawrinka, Youzhny, Nadal and Verdasco all battle it out for a place in the semi finals today. Check today’s odds and all US Open odds.
The women take a rest and will resume with their semi finals tomorrow so the spotlight is firmly on the men’s quarters.
Firstly, Stanislas Wawrinka will play Mikhail Youzhny, both seeded, but neither in the top 10. Wawrinka is something of the outsider; 66/1 with Totesport for the tournament and 5/4 (Stan James) to beat Youzhny. Meaning to cast no dispersion, Youzhny has had it relatively simple so far; meeting only 1 seeded player in the form of John Isner. He has conceded sets to unseeded players and now faces Murray’s conqueror, putting some doubts on the credibility of his 3/4 fav tag by Boylesports. Wawrinka was slightly assisted by an apparent injury to Murray but showed good stamina to follow it up with a 5 set win over Querrey. Wawrinka may have been slightly under-estimated here, and is 9/2 with Betfred to win 3-1, 6/1 at Skybet to win 3-2.
Later on, Rafa Nadal takes to the court to continue an almost inevitable march to the final. Unfortunately, 1/10 is the best available (888sport) but perhaps Fernando Verdasco could take a set off him, being by far the best opponent Nadal has faced so far – 3-1 to Nadal is 3/1 at William Hill. Nadal is currently 5/4 with Paddy Power in the outright market.
