Cricket Betting: Live on Skysports 1: Fri 10.00 England and Pakistan move on to a 5 game ODI series, England eyeing a 5-0 whitewash and should be able to get off to a Morgan inspired winning start.
England are just 1/4 with Extrabet to add the ODI series against Pakistan to their Test and T20 series wins against the scandal blighted team. 888sport offer 4/1 that England can pull off a 5-0 whitewash. England have shown, especially in the ODI series against Australia, they rarely keep their ‘foot on the throat’ throughout an entire series and a whitewash would be quite unlikely. Pakistan did manage 1 test win and 1 reasonable T20 performance so, over the course of 5 ODI’s, they should be able to pick up 1 win – 4-1 to England is 15/8 with William Hill.
On Friday, the two teams get the series underway at Chester-le-Street and England are immediately installed as 4/11 favs by Bet365, a far cry from the 4/7 they began as before the T20 series. England have a number of players they can look to who have hit a nice patch of form with bat or ball – Swann, Broad, Morgan and even Bresnan chipped in last time out. Morgan has been a revelation for the England ODI side; he has 2 not-out centuries in 2010 alone. He didn’t have a great time in the recent series against Bangladesh but he can refind the form he had over Australia and be top scorer at 5/1 with Victor Chandler.
With the ball, Swann has the best average in ODI’s for England this year, and his 17 wickets are 2 shy of Broad’s 19. These 2 are going great guns for England at the moment and it will be hard to split them; Swann is 11/4 and Broad 3/1, both William Hill, to take the most wickets but the spin of Swann can prevail here.
Pakistan will need a hero, hoping either Yousuf, Akmal or Afridi can pull something out of the bag. Yousuf showed glimpses in the 1st T20 but failed in the 2nd while Akmal managed to top score for Pakistan in both games; Akmal is 9/2 at Stan James to be top scorer for the tourists again.
This game might be a good indication of how Pakistan stand at the moment and must avoid another poor display like that of the 2nd T20. In their last 10 innings (Tests and T20’s), Pakistan have failed to beat 12 for the 1st wicket in 9 attempts; making Blue Square’s 5/6 for under 23.5 runs for the 1st wicket pretty attractive. England should win but may not have it as easy as the odds suggest.
