Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Tuesday; Edmund Kean in the Leicester 1.50. Compare odds and bet.
The 2m7f novices’ limited handicap chase at Leicester on Tuesday is a cracking six-runner contest, with Le Reve sure to appreciate the drop in class, but the testing ground may not be ideal for Lucy Wadham’s six-year-old.
Though he lacks from experience, David Pipe’s Edmund Kean (1:50) is, therefore, taken to bounce back from his Cheltenham flop and score on his chasing debut under Tom Scudamore.
The imposing seven-year-old is an Irish point-to-point winner, who improved on this sort of ground over hurdles last term. Third in the EBF Final, he should have relished the step up to 3m at the Open meeting, but the ground may have been quicker than ideal and he is certainly not one to give up on yet.
The selection will relish conditions and, if he jumps proficiently, he should go very close off this mark. He opened up 4/1 with Bet Victor and 7/2 with Ladbrokes early on Monday evening, but I suspect he will be shorter come post time.
Tuesday’s selection:
1:50 Leicester: Edmund Kean; 3/1 William Hill
