Paul Ferguson has two selections from Haydock for us on Monday; Desoto County at 1.20 and Urban Hymn at 2.30. Compare odds and bet.
Donald McCain last took Haydock’s 2m NH novices’ hurdle in 2011 with subsequent Supreme winner Cinders And Ashes, and he can strike again this afternoon, with hurdling debutant Desoto County (1:20).
The grey won a bumper here at the Betfair meeting last month, before finishing runner-up to another promising sort under a penalty at Bangor. His course success has worked out well since, with the second and fourth winning next time, and the former Irish points winner has been found a nice opportunity.
Later on the card Urban Hymn (2:30) can get off the mark at the second time of asking over the fixed brush hurdles for Malcolm Jefferson and Brian Hughes.
Runner-up to the useful Spirit Of Shankly here last month, when racing pretty keenly in the early stages, the Huntingdon bumper winner remains a smart prospect and can get regain the winning thread here, if settling better in the early stages.
Monday’s selections:
1:20 Haydock: Desoto County; evens bet365
2:30 Haydock: Urban Hymn; 10/11 bet365
