Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Wednesday; Regal Diamond in the Chepstow 1.40 and Balder Succes in the Warwick 2.20. Compare odds and bet.
With Claret Cloak a non-runner, it will be disappointing if Balder Succes (2:20) doesn’t bounce back to winning ways at Warwick on Wednesday.
Alan King’s five-year-old made an impressive winning start to his chasing career at Chepstow and would have followed up but for falling two out at Cheltenham last time, when Robert Thornton blamed the low lying sun.
As long as his confident hasn’t been knocked too much, he should be too good for today’s rivals and, accordingly, opened up at 8/13 with Paddy Power last night.
Likely to be pretty short himself, Regal Diamond (1:40) can make a winning debut over timber at Chepstow, having shown fine form in bumpers for Peter Bowen.
The five-year-old won at Ayr in April and Aintree in May, where he beat the smart Oscarteea (winner already this season) by the best part of 4 lengths, and he shaped well in defeat on his return at Cheltenham last month.
With that run under his belt, he should be tuned up for this first foray over jumps and he should have too much class for today’s 13 rivals.
Wednesday’s selections:
1:40 Chepstow: Regal Diamond; 11/10 bet365
2:20 Warwick: Balder Succes; 8/13 Paddy Power
