Live on Sky Sports 3: Tues 19.45: Celtic might have to settle for a draw (5/2, bet365) in their crucial Champions League showdown with Ajax.
Celtic have put in two strong performances in the Champions League yet are still pointless at the foot of Group H so the home clash against Ajax is now a must-win encounter for Neil Lennon’s boys if they are to keep their slim chances of qualification alive.
The Hoops have a lengthy absentee list which won’t help their cause but they’re nevertheless narrow favourites at 31/20 with bet365 while the Dutch visitors are a 2/1 shot at BetVictor, the bookies presumably acknowledging the fact that the hosts are hard to beat on their own patch.
However, Celtic have failed to score in their two pool matches and the lack of cutting edge won’t be aided by their depleted line-up so it might be wise to sit on the fence by backing the draw in this one at 5/2 (bet365).
It certainly doesn’t appear likely to be a high-scoring clash, Stan James posting a safe-looking 10/11 against a match tally of fewer than three goals and a case can therefore be made for a 1-1 scoreline at 13/2 courtesy of BetVictor.
