Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Friday; Le Reve in the Fakenham 2.20. Compare odds and bet.
Despite being introduced in a warm novices’ chase (a theme with this week’s selections) Lucy Wadham’s Le Reve (2:20) is worth supporting at rewarding odds at Fakenham on Friday.
The taking son of Milan was progressive during his first season racing last term and won two novice hurdles on this sort of ground, at Market Rasen in February and Kempton in April.
The five-year-old looks sure to improve for fences and, while this is a really hot contest by the track’s standards, he looks capable of going well. Paddy Power opened up last night and the selection was available at 12/1, though it is a shame there is only seven going to post. With that in mind and the fact that Wonderful Charm is odds-on, be sure to check the ‘without fav’ market.
The favourite looked smart in France and when winning the Persian War on his British debut this time last year, before finishing eighth in the World Hurdle. He looks like making up in to a smart novice, while Bear’s Affair and King Of The Night have already shown smart form in defeat over fences, and the penalised Bar De Ligne beat the useful Grandads Horse when last seen.
There are sure to be plenty of winners coming out of today’s contest and Le Reve might improve for racing on a more galloping track later in the campaign but, given his trainer’s record at the track (7 from 21 over fences in recent seasons) and the double-figure odds, he is worth chancing.
Friday’s selection:
2:20 Fakenham: Le Reve; 12/1 Paddy Power
