Live on BT Sport 2: Sun 15.00: Motherwell (13/8, bet365) can edge out Dundee Utd by one in the Scottish Premiership.
Dundee United’s start to the campaign can’t be described as anything but average given that they’ve won two, drawn two and lost two but the Terrors two wins have come in their last three, either side of a forgivable reverse against champions Celtic so they’re certainly a team on the up.
However, the same can be said of opponents Motherwell, who slumped to defeats in two of their opening trio of fixtures but have since bounced back with three victories on the spin and with both teams finding some form it’s hardly surprising that bookies are struggling to separate them.
Bet365 lean tentatively towards the hosts by making the Steelmen marginal outsiders at 13/8 but William Hill offer heftier odds of 17/10 about a United triumph while several firms price the pair identically.
Subsequently, neutral punters will inevitably sit on the fence by backing a stalemate at 12/5 via BetVictor and there’s certainly a case to be made for a score draw at odds of 10/3 courtesy of bet365.
Alternatively, Ladbrokes post 13/2 against a 1-1 scoreline but Stuart McCall’s boys are on something of a roll at the minute and as they have a decent recent record at Tannadice, where they’ve won three and drawn one of the last four renewals, they might just have a bit too much nous for the hosts.
Nevertheless, a close encounter certainly looks on the cards. All four of ‘Well’s victories this term have been by a solitary goal, a sequence they’re 18/5 (Ladbrokes) to extend while Paddy Power quote even money for this to be the seventh away league match in eight for the visitors, to produce fewer than three goals.
A 1-0 success for Motherwell stands out then at 17/2 with Stan James and John Sutton, who has been on target in his last three, is an enticing 6/1 (Skybet) to set the Steelmen on their way by breaking the deadlock.
