Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Monday; Valco De Touzaine in the Newton Abbot 3.50. Compare odds and bet.
Sadly Claret Cloak doesn’t make his eagerly awaited chase debut in the Olive And Jack Oliver Memorial Novices’ Chase at Newton Abbot on Monday (was entered at the five day stage) but, in his absence, Paul Nicholls’ Valco De Touzaine (3:50) is fancied to get off the mark in Britain.
Twice a winner on decent ground in France before joining current connections, the son of Dom Alco ran a couple of decent races in defeat last year, when he struggled to cope with his double penalty at times.
The grey gets a handy four-year-old allowance here and, while he may well appreciate better ground and slightly further in time, he can make the most of the weight he gets this afternoon.
Several of these boast useful pieces of hurdles form, including Zarzal who ran well in a decent Stratford handicap last time, but he’s Flat bred, while the selection is bred to improve for fences and has the size to take to them.
Monday’s selection:
3:50 Newton Abbot: Valco De Touzaine; 5/4 bet365
