Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Monday; Eye Of The Storm in the Galway 18:15. Compare odds and bet.
There are several interesting runners on Monday, including Handmaid in the concluding bumper at Huntingdon, for Peter Bowen and Jamie Moore.
The daughter of King’s Theatre was a winner for this column back in June and looks a promising type from a nice family, though it isn’t easy for a four-year-old to carry a penalty in such contests, plus this filly now takes on the boys, albeit in a fairly ordinary race.
Arguably the most interesting runner of the whole day, however, is Eye Of The Storm (6:15) in the Listed Oyster Stakes at Galway this evening.
The 136-day lay-off is obviously a slight concern, but his form entitles him to take this, before reverting to Group events and the step up to 1m4f ought to bring about plenty of improvement.
A maiden winner on the corresponding card last year, the Galileo colt went on to finish third in the Group 3 Autumn Stakes at Newmarket, behind Trading Leather and Montiridge.
The selection had Epsom Derby third and Irish Derby second Galileo Rock in behind that day and he also finished in front of that rival on his sole start this term, when he went down a head in Sandown’s Group 3 Classic Trial. If fully wound up (market should prove a good guide to that) he ought to take this.
Monday’s selection:
6:15 Galway: Eye Of The Storm; 11/8 Paddy Power
