Live on BBC3: Sun 17.00: Uruguay (6/4, Stan James) should edge out a tired Italy in the Confederations Cup third place play-off.
Italy boss Cesare Prandelli isn’t exactly delighted by the scheduling of the Confederations as his team face a quick turnaround for the third place play-off following that marathon battle with Spain and the extra freshness of the Uruguayans could prove crucial in Salvador.
Bookmakers have taken that into account, Stan James rating Oscar Tabarez’s team at 6/4 to emerge victorious while Italy are 7/4 (bet365) and the collision is 5/2 via BetVictor to require extra time. Neither team will want that though, so a conclusive contest is probable and BetVictor post 10/1 against the South American side grabbing the only goal.
Napoli’s Edinson Cavani has plenty of experience of Italian defences and he looks a touch overpriced at 7/1 courtesy of Paddy Power to strike first, although Ladbrokes’ 9/4 for the in-demand attacker is a safer option as there’s no guarantee that Cavani will be in the starting line-up.
Recommended Bets:
Edinson Cavani to score at any time – 9/4 (Ladbrokes)
Uruguay to win 1-0 – 10/1 (BetVictor)
